Susan, often described as dichotomous, finds family law a natural fit which draws on her logical and interpersonal intelligences. This allows Susan to be both a passionate and pragmatic advocate for her clients.
After graduating Wake Forest University School of Law in 2011, Susan began her law career working with the Piedmont Law Center, a non-profit law firm providing legal services to low income families. There she discovered an empty space, previously unknown to her, where the need for reduced-fee legal services in the family law arena was in large demand. This sparked in Susan a passion for making the judicial system accessible for the average family and gave her the opportunity to learn firsthand how to represent these clients’ needs.
Susan brings unique experience to the practice of family law from her previous career as an accountant. Susan sat for and passed the Certified Public Accountant exam in 2012. This education and experience informs Susan’s representation of individuals who are in the process of redefining their financial future.
Susan is the newest addition to Kurtz Evans Whitley Guy & Simos, PLLC. Her empathy and passion for her clients has been on full display. She views herself as a translator, helping make the world of often complex and dense legal principals something accessible for her clients. She realizes when a client comes to see her that they are often looking for someone to help them understand what is going on and to explain what the next steps are in a clear, concise, and coherent way. She takes this responsibility very seriously and is happiest when she feels that she has served her clients by lifting a weight off their shoulders.
When not at the office, Susan enjoys spending time with her husband, step-daughter and dogs, traveling, skiing and cooking.
